Media Matter's War on FOX

^.^

I think it's time for Media Matters to be stopped ... just saying ... Here's a new strategy that Media Matters unveiled recently:

http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.politico.com%2Fnews%2Fstories%2F0311%2F51949.html&h=fc7be

This is a case where Media Matters can dish it out, but they can't take it. They can't stand that anyone would have a point of view that is different from theirs. I like this take on the situation ...

http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fhotair.com%2Farchives%2F2011%2F03%2F26%2Fmedia-matters-plots-guerrilla-warfare-and-sabotage-against-fox%2F&h=fc7be

I don't have a problem with Media Matters being a media watchdog, monitoring conservative talk shows and such for factuality, even though doing so is horribly one-sided ... but then again, this is balanced by the conservatives who monitor the mainstream "drive-by" media and their ilk. Of course, you also then get the followers who flock to Liberalista or conservative websites because these sites echo their views ... again, I have no problem ... these websites are a part of the game of political discussion.

David Brock, the head of Media Matters, is taking his anti-FOX jihad to a new and dangerous level, however. He's apparently now out to damage and sabotage FOX. This goes beyond simply opposing an organization because of its point of view, and gets into silencing someone because you don't belive in or agree with that point of view. This is a direct assault on the freedom of speech, and is therefore a danger to all of us.

Media Matters is asking the federal government to change their status from a 501-C not-for-profit, which does not allow them to engage in political-based activities, to a different designation, which will allow them to engage in political activities, which I assume they believe their not-so secret war on FOX will be. I assume the feds will have some questions about all of this, but given that the government agrees with Media Matters' point of view, I suspect their request will be approved.

Media Matters is not stopping at simply opposing FOX News in the media world. Brock states in the Politico article that Media Matters is hiring lawyers that have been successful against FOX, and reporters to compile secret files on top officials at FOX. They are also planning to open operations in Great Britain, in order to oppose FOX gaining a majority share in Sky News. Opposing other peoples' opinions is one thing ... trying to bring down someone's company is another. In the end, David Brock and Media Matters will fail, and FOX News will actually *gain* viewers and popularity. The very fact that this is public, and the news has gotten out to the FOX faithful will ensure this.

The idea that the Lefty Liberalistas figure that this is a sound strategy and a good move is frightening in and of itself.

Frank Derksen wrote the following:

"If Fox News didn't just make s**t up and incorrectly report the news, I would be upset about this. However, I will go with the Machiavellian view on this and say the ends justify the means."

My Rsponse:

What goes around may come around. Media Matters will not be able to take down FOX News or Newscorp, therefore what are they really trying to do? Conservatives don't attempt to take down Liberalista media outlets because they don't believe in their points of view ... they tend to fall over themselves. I find it interesting that David Brock and Media Matters feels that the answer is to attack FOX News rather than putting that money into a liberal news outlet.

Equal Opportunity Jihad in the Religious World

^.^

I think it is high-time to WIN the war against Islamo-nazis, and you know who these people are. We're not talking about the so-called "moderates", or those who go along peacefully practicing the Islamic religion, whether they be here in the United States, or elsewhere in the world. We have no qualms with muslims who simply want to worship Allah and believe that their God is different from the version of God presented in the Christian Bible.

No problems there.

It's the idiot Sharia-fascist terrorist thugs that need to be dealt with. The nineteen terrorists that took their jihad to the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 are prime examples of who we must stop ... they and their overlords sitting in NW Pakistan.

Christians have grown since the Middle Ages, when the Pope sent a number of armies against the muslims who had captured Jerusalem. Christians have taken the phrase "turn the other cheek" to a level that basically now means that we keep taking everything that enemies of the religion have to dish out. Small-scale murder, bombings of every type, and large-scale killings, all of them seem to be covered under this viewpoint.

That needs to change.

Quite frankly, we need to start knocking off people who propose such insanity upon the Christian world. It's time to fight fire with fire. It's time to start attacking people like Hassan Nazrallah, the leader of Hezbullah in Lebanon. Christianity as a whole should become more akin to Israel in how we approach the situation. Sure, the Arabs will complain publicly ... but in private, they will thank us for giving them even more security, and for taking on the bad apples within their midst.

It's time for jihad to be met by a crusade.

Conservative Writer Ann Coulter to Speak at the UW Campus

^.^

Ann Coulter will speak at the University of Wyoming on March 31, 2011. Details about this free event, which is part of the Reagan 100 Lecture Series , will be announced soon. (Young America's Foundation website)

As of yet, I have not heard whether this event will be open to the public, but I certainly will write the university and push for it to be open. If the William Ayers speech of last April was open to the public, I see no reason that we should be excluded from seeing the speech that some of us basically demanded as a reimbursement of sorts.

In fact, given the reception that Ann Coulter receives on college campuses, I would like to challenge Meg Lanker to make a public statement in this blog space, that she supports the rights of Ann Coulter to come to UW and be allowed to speak. She as much as said she would defend the right of a conservative to speak at UW. It's time to make the statement.

I figure I am going to go to the Ann Coulter speech, as a way to reward myself for standing out in the cold and snow last April to be with the protesters who had signs out speaking against the visit by Bill Ayers, the unrepentant Weather Underground terrorist.

UPDATE: Not only will I be attending the Ann Coulter speech, which will be held at the A&S auditorium on March 31, 2011, but I will bring one of her books with me and see if I can get her to sign it. I will also jot down some details for an exclusive piece for Politics City.

It's Time to Break the Unions

^.^

Wisconsin governor Scott Walker should step up and put a stop to the situation in the capitol building. He can do this in a number of steps, as follows:

‎1: THE NATIONAL GUARD SHOULD CLEAR THE CAPITOL BUILDING :: The protestors have a right to speak, but not a right to obstruct the operations of government, and not the right to picket outside the houses of government officials. The national guard should be called in to clear the state capitol, and those who are picketing outside the houses of government officials should be arrested for endangering public safety.

‎2: THE STRIKING TEACHERS SHOULD BE FIRED! :: President Reagan set the precedent with the air traffic controllers in 1981, when he had the government fire any air traffic controller who did not return to work when they went on strike, and p...ut the entire air network in jeopardy. The protesting teachers are not doing their jobs, and they are not teaching children, something that is rather vital for society. The teachers should be ordered to return to work. Those that don't should be fired and replaced. There are anough people out there who are looking for a good stable job. This would also break the back of the WEA, the teacher's union.

‎3: DOCK PAY :: Any teacher who called in sick, and instead showed up at the protests, should not be paid for what is essentially the fraudulent use of sick pay. Since the taxpayers pay the salary of the teachers, if they are not working, they should not be paid by the taxpayers.

PS: Raleigh G. Love replied to the original Gacebook version of this blog post as follows:

"Freedom of assembly? And even if the teachers are not in the classroom, you can bet their students are learning from their actions."

My Reply:

The protestors can "assemble" outside the capitol building. Just because you have the right to assemble does not mean you have the right to obstruct the operations of the state government. Along the same lines, freedom of speech does not mean you have a right to be heard.

The teachers are not doing their jobs. They are not doing what the school districts pay them to do. With this in mind, they should not be paid.

Bill O'Reilly & Intelligent Design

^.^

Alrighty, many of you already know about the controversy ( or comic relief ) that Bill O'Reilly has caused by his rhetorical questions to a guest on his show ... for those who don't know, here is how Lawrence O'Donnell handled it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jW6yeMj3ORE

Ok, to some people out there, all these statements from Bill O'Reilly prove that he is an incredible moron who has no business speaking at all. They give him no leeway whatsoever, and so on and so forth. In fact, one of my friends went so far as to say this: " Electroweak fermion loop contributions to the muon anomalous magnetic moment? You can't explain that!!! (To some people)"

Well first off, I'll bet my friend can't explain " Electroweak fermion loop contributions to the muon anomalous magnetic moment?", and I've told him that. However, in an argument, trying to prove that you are smarter than the other person does not invalidate that other person's point.

As a person who saw the original segemnt on the O'Reilly Factor, I remember the "tides come in, the tides go out" comment as a minor comment in that segment. An atheist wrote in and commented on the segment, and Bill repeated his statement. When apparently the mockery that ensued went viral, Bill posted a longer reply on Youtube, in which he stepped in it again, so to speak, and both Colbert and O'Donnell ...neither of whom are friends of O'Reilly or sympathetic to him ... used for fodder on their shows.

There are a few things I need to say about this incident. The first is that a fair-minded individual would take a look at the clips, especially the O'Donnell one, and know immediately that Bill is trying to point to the intelligent design o...f the universe. How were the intricate things that make up the universe created so that we have these things evident for us to see? Yes, the tides are caused by the pull of our moon, but how did these things come about? Our human bodies are incredibly complex things, that work on a macro-atomic level as well as a subatomic level. If you need more info, have a listen to Dr. Ronald Hoffman's medical advice show and see how long it takes him to start talking about some chemical reaction within the body. All of what goes on in our body, and for the most part, it seems to work. For those times when it doesn't work, we humans happen to have the intelligence to have figured out how to correct what's not working correctly at that time ... for the most part.

Bill just mispoke. And HEY, I'll give Colbert, O'Donnell, and anyone else who wants to jump on that particular bandwagon and point at Bill O'Reilly and laugh ... I'll give them that. But to try to make the point that you are smarter than th...ey are because you know more about mathematics than other people do is simply showing how small YOU are. I got into this argument because a friend of mine feels so put out by O'Reilly's comments that he changed his Facebook profile picture to reflect it, and posted the " Electroweak fermion loop contributions..." comment. My response to him was basically "If you don't like Bill O'Reilly so much, ignore him". Perhaps there would be less partisan rancor if people ignored those that they dislike, rather than pay MORE attention to them, and attack them.

As for Bill O'Reilly ... well, I *know* that this event will not affect his popularity, or the popularity of his show. Even this controversy will fade from the minds of the comics (Colbert) and commentators (O'Donnell) and Bill will go on t...o other topics. O'Donnell even commented that Bill had an upcoming interview with the President of the United States, and as of this writing, that interview has happened. The moving on to other topics has been going on for a while now, and the interview with the President was highly regarded, and it brought Fox News a lot more gravitas than its detractors might have wished. The interview pretty much washed away any effect from the "tides" incident.

However, when Bill starts mixing religion with politics, I believe he does both subjects a disservice. Those of us who have read his books know he is a deeply-religious man, of Catholic and Irish upbringing. Both he and Hannity sometimes ha...ve religious subjects on their shows, and religious guests, and things can get very heated. When it happens, it's a dis-service to God and to the politics that you support. Hannity's comments to Anjem Choudary, a muslim cleric, at the end of his interview: "You're one sick, miserable, evil SOB" made my jaw drop. It was not one of his brighter moments. A link to the entire interview is right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANG9s5EoAnQ

In short Bill, no they can't explain how the moon affects the tides in the greater scheme of how God created the universe. However, God should play less of a role on the O'Reilly Factor, and in political analysis in general.

Liberalista Propaganda at the Superbowl

^.^

I am glad I didn't see the Superbowl halftime show this year. Usually they use this time between halves of the greatest football game on the face of the planet, and in between the most expensive advertising real estate in media to rase some old dead musical talen from beyond the grave, and wheel them onto a glittery stage.

This Superbowl, they featured the Blackeyeed Peas, who apparently changed the lyrics of one of their tunes to reflect a pro-Obummer, pro-let's spend more taxpayer money on useless stimulus programs and such. "Obama, let's get these kids educated" yadda yadda yadda.

It used to be that bands simply entertained people. Now you have bands like U2 whining about climate change and the spread of AIDS through the illiterates in Africa, and the Blackeyed Peas yammer on about educating children. BIG DEAL! Hey so-called artists, just sing your drivel that you call talent-based artistry, and leave the politics and the rest of that to us.

And by the way, quit ripping us off! U2 is behind collecting donations for the relief effort in Haiti, yet neither they nor Bill CLinton can tell us what happened to millions of dollars that have simply disappeared into a black hole of corruption. Way to go, Rockers! How about keeping to traditional musical themes ... whatever those are ...

Cable Landscape After Olberman

^.^

I read the news regarding the downfall of Keith "Keithy-boy" Olberman with the interest of a character on a daytime soap who was reveling in the downfall of an arch-enemy. Olberman hated the Bush administration, and he certainly made no secret about it. Because of this, I hated him, and I made no secret about it. You can decide if this makes me a worse person.

After my initial reaction because I thought that Keith had left on his own, I discovered that this was not the case. Apparently the Big Bosses at MSNBC had a Jesus moment, and decided that the FOX News network was kicking their butts in the ratings a bit too much for comfort, and they decided that they needed a new attitude ... and Keithy-boy didn't fit the kinder, gentler image they wanted to put forward. Rachel Maddow should perhaps be scared.

Quite frankly, I like the decision, aside from Olberman not having a job where he can influence millions of people. And it's not for the reason you might think. I certainly like FOX News, but at the beginning of last year, they got rid of p...eople like Alan Colmes (sp?) and brought in Glen Beck. Beck is great, and Sean Hannity is free to be himself without Alan holding him down, but NONE of the Liberalistas that work at FOX News have their own hour-long show that runs the entire week and is repeated more than once each day. Beck, O'Reilly, and Hannity all have this treatment, as does Greta Van Sustren (who runs more of a news show, not an analysis show). Shep Smith runs a news show, and Geraldo Rivera's liberal, but hsi show is run on the weekends, and not repeated at all during the week.

I for one hope that MSNBC gets their act together and can soon be a real source of competition for FOX, not because I wish FOX News ill, but because I think that the competition from a Liberalista network that takes itself and its message seriously will bring out even better talents amongst the people at Fox News. I think Fox has what it takes to remain at the top of the ratings. As for Keithy-boy ... who cares?

---

UPDATE :: Apparently Algore's cable channel has hired Keithy-boy as their political director and expert analyst. They always say that birds of a feather flock together ... let's see ... both are Liberalistas, both are FAILURES...

The Healthcare Bill - My Biggest Problem

^.^

I have a number of problems with the Obama healthcare
law. Actually, I have several problems, but we'll start
with the big one. No matter the other problems with the
law, how will the United States PAY for the new
entitlements, the Christmas gifts in March, that we're
getting from Santa Obama?

So far, it's looking as though the government will simply
float more money that will be bought up by the Arabs and
Chinese, people who positively ADORE US.

The issue is a simple one. If I have been given a loan from
someone, that person has some amount of control over my
life. They can dictate what the money is used for, if they
wish, and other demands can sometimes be considered as a
condition of the loan.

I remember the Chinese objecting to the massive spending
of the Obama administration, saying "We hate you people."
The army of China has threatened the United States, saying
that they will call in the loans if the United States moves
against their interests, such as Taiwan.

In the case of my fictional loan with a friend, generally
a payment date is set up when I ask for the loan, but the
person floating the loan could come to me and request the
money. In the case of the US debt with China, the Chinese
could simply sell their dollars. At that point, the market
becomes flooded with Dollars, and the currency system
falls apart.

That last part is why the Chinese *won't* call in their
loans to the United States. About five seconds after the
Dollar collapses, the rest of the currency market will
go with it, and that will take down the Chinese. So,
the threat is rather hollow, but the protest is not.
The Chinese have protested the irresponsibility of spending
money that we do not have, and it is a valid protest.

The party of Clinton, the party that used fiscal discipline
to bring us a budget surplus, has within one year, doubled
the national debt. That's why China is complaining.

That's my biggest problem with this new law.

Senator-Elect Scott Brown's Acceptance Speech

^.^

You know, after the exciting news of last night, I thought about what I might
say on the issue, and I probably *will* add my own thoughts. However, the
person who can best describe the impact of the events of last night is the
man himself. The following are the prepared remarks of Mr. Scott Brown,
the newly-elected Senator-elect of Massachusetts...

SENATOR-ELECT SCOTT BROWN:

"Thank you very much. I’ll bet they can hear all this cheering down in Washington, D.C.

And I hope they’re paying close attention, because tonight the independent
voice of Massachusetts has spoken.

From the Berkshires to Boston, from Springfield to Cape Cod, the voters of this
Commonwealth defied the odds and the experts. And tonight, the independent majority
has delivered a great victory.

I thank the people of Massachusetts for electing me as your next United States senator.

Every day I hold this office, I will give all that is in me to serve you well and make you proud.

Most of all, I will remember that while the honor is mine, this Senate seat belongs to no one
person and no political party - and as I have said before, and you said loud and clear today,
it is the people’s seat.

Interim Senator Paul Kirk has completed his work as a senator by appointment of the governor,
and for the work he has done, I thank him. The people, by their votes, have now filled the office
themselves, and I am ready to go to Washington without delay.

I also want to thank Martha Coakley for her call of congratulations. A hard contest is now behind
us, and now we must come together as a Commonwealth.

This special election came about because we lost someone very dear to Massachusetts, and to
America. Senator Ted Kennedy was a tireless and big-hearted public servant, and for most of my
lifetime was a force like no other in this state. His name will always command the affection and
respect by the people of Massachusetts, and the same goes for his wife Vicki. There’s no replacing
a man like that, but tonight I honor his memory, and I pledge my very best to be a worthy successor.

I said at the very beginning, when I sat down at the dinner table with my family, that win or lose we
would run a race which would make us all proud. I kept my word and we ran a clean, issues oriented,
upbeat campaign - and I wouldn’t trade that for anything.

When I first started running, I asked for a lot of help, because I knew it was going to be me against
the machine. I was wrong, it was all of us against the machine. And after tonight we have shown
everyone that - now - you are the machine.

I'm glad my mom and dad, brothers, sisters, and so many family members are here tonight.

Once again, before I go any further, I want to introduce somebody very special... That is my wife, Gail.

And as you know, my wife Gail couldn't join me on the campaign trail because of her work as a Boston
TV journalist. But I will let you in on a little secret. She didn't stay neutral today, and she voted for the
winner. I rely as always, on Gail's love and support and that of our beautiful daughters.

Arianna will be returning a day or two late to her pre-med studies at Syracuse, because she’s been giving
her all to this campaign. As always, Arianna and her sister Ayla have been a joy to Gail and me, and we're
so grateful to them both. Even before her campaign performances, millions of Americans had already heard
Ayla’s amazing voice on “American Idol.” As Boston College basketball fans know, she’s also pretty good
on the court.

If the President thinks they’ve got basketball talent at the White House, I ask him to pick his best teammate
and find some time to play two-on-two with Ayla and me.

I’m grateful to all those from across Massachusetts who came through for me even when I was a long shot. I
especially thank a friend who was there with encouragement from the very beginning, and helped show us the
way to victory - former Governor Mitt Romney.

I’ll never forget the help of another man who took the time to meet with me months ago - who told me I could win,
and gave me confidence for the fight. It was all so characteristic of a truly great and heroic American, and tonight I
thank my new colleague, Senator John McCain.

On a night like this, when so many people mark your name on a statewide ballot, you think back to the first people
who gave you a chance and believed. For the trust they placed in me, and for all they have taught me, I thank my
neighbors and friends in my Senate district and especially my hometown of Wrentham. The cause and victory that
all America has seen tonight started right there with all of you.

Let me tell you when I first got the feeling something big was happening in this campaign. It was when I was driving
along and spotted a handmade, Scott Brown yard sign that I hadn’t actually put there myself.

This little campaign of ours was destined for greater things than any of us knew, and the message went far beyond
the name on the sign.

It all started with me, my truck, and a few dedicated volunteers. It ended with Air Force One making an emergency
run to Logan. I didn't mind when President Obama came here and criticized me - that happens in campaigns. But
when he criticized my truck, that's where I draw the line.

We had the machine scared and scrambling, and for them it is just the beginning of an election year filled with surprises.
They will be challenged again and again across this country. When there’s trouble in Massachusetts, there’s trouble
everywhere - and now they know it.

In every corner of our state, I met with people, looked them in the eye, shook their hand, and asked them for their vote.
I didn’t worry about their party affiliation, and they didn’t worry about mine. It was simply shared conviction that brought
us all together.

One thing is clear, voters do not want the trillion-dollar health care bill that is being forced on the American people.

This bill is not being debated openly and fairly. It will raise taxes, hurt Medicare, destroy jobs, and run our nation deeper
into debt. It is not in the interest of our state or country - we can do better.

When in Washington, I will work in the Senate with Democrats and Republicans to reform health care in an open and
honest way. No more closed-door meetings or back room deals by an out of touch party leadership. No more hiding
costs, concealing taxes, collaborating with special interests, and leaving more trillions in debt for our children to pay.

In health care, we need to start fresh, work together, and do the job right. Once again, we can do better.

I will work in the Senate to put government back on the side of people who create jobs, and the millions of people who
need jobs - and as President John F. Kennedy taught us, that starts with an across the board tax cut for individuals
and businesses that will create jobs and stimulate the economy. It's that simple!

I will work in the Senate to defend our nation’s interests and to keep our military second to none. As a lieutenant colonel
and 30-year member of the Army National Guard, I will keep faith with all who serve, and get our veterans all the benefits
they deserve.

And let me say this, with respect to those who wish to harm us, I believe that our Constitution and laws exist to protect
this nation - they do not grant rights and privileges to enemies in wartime. In dealing with terrorists, our tax dollars should
pay for weapons to stop them, not lawyers to defend them.

Raising taxes, taking over our health care, and giving new rights to terrorists is the wrong agenda for our country. What I've
heard again and again on the campaign trail, is that our political leaders have grown aloof from the people, impatient with
dissent, and comfortable in the back room making deals. And we can do better.

They thought you were on board with all of their ambitions. They thought they owned your vote. They thought they couldn’t
lose. But tonight, you and you and you have set them straight.

Across this country, we are united by basic convictions that need only to be clearly stated to win a majority. If anyone still
doubts that, in the election season just beginning, let them look to Massachusetts.

Fellow citizens, what happened in this election can happen all over America. We are witnesses, you and I, to the truth that
ideals, hard work, and strength of heart can overcome any political machine. We ran a campaign never to be forgotten, and
led a cause that deserved and received all that we could give it.

And now, because of your independence, and your trust, I will hold for a time the seat once filled by patriots from John Quincy
Adams to John F. Kennedy and his brother Ted. As I proudly take up the duty you have given me, I promise to do my best for
Massachusetts and America every time the roll is called.

I go to Washington as the representative of no faction or interest, answering only to my conscience and to the people.
I’ve got a lot to learn in the Senate, but I know who I am and I know who I serve.

I’m Scott Brown, I'm from Wrentham, I drive a truck, and I am nobody’s senator but yours.

Thank you very much.
