Cable Landscape After Olberman

^.^

I read the news regarding the downfall of Keith "Keithy-boy" Olberman with the interest of a character on a daytime soap who was reveling in the downfall of an arch-enemy. Olberman hated the Bush administration, and he certainly made no secret about it. Because of this, I hated him, and I made no secret about it. You can decide if this makes me a worse person.

After my initial reaction because I thought that Keith had left on his own, I discovered that this was not the case. Apparently the Big Bosses at MSNBC had a Jesus moment, and decided that the FOX News network was kicking their butts in the ratings a bit too much for comfort, and they decided that they needed a new attitude ... and Keithy-boy didn't fit the kinder, gentler image they wanted to put forward. Rachel Maddow should perhaps be scared.

Quite frankly, I like the decision, aside from Olberman not having a job where he can influence millions of people. And it's not for the reason you might think. I certainly like FOX News, but at the beginning of last year, they got rid of p...eople like Alan Colmes (sp?) and brought in Glen Beck. Beck is great, and Sean Hannity is free to be himself without Alan holding him down, but NONE of the Liberalistas that work at FOX News have their own hour-long show that runs the entire week and is repeated more than once each day. Beck, O'Reilly, and Hannity all have this treatment, as does Greta Van Sustren (who runs more of a news show, not an analysis show). Shep Smith runs a news show, and Geraldo Rivera's liberal, but hsi show is run on the weekends, and not repeated at all during the week.

I for one hope that MSNBC gets their act together and can soon be a real source of competition for FOX, not because I wish FOX News ill, but because I think that the competition from a Liberalista network that takes itself and its message seriously will bring out even better talents amongst the people at Fox News. I think Fox has what it takes to remain at the top of the ratings. As for Keithy-boy ... who cares?

UPDATE :: Apparently Algore's cable channel has hired Keithy-boy as their political director and expert analyst. They always say that birds of a feather flock together ... let's see ... both are Liberalistas, both are FAILURES...
